Why Choose Signlink?

CUSTOM BUILT

The SignLink Directory System is fully customisable in terms of the individual panel sizes, configurations and overall directory size.  It offers the designer the complete freedom to develop a design, which suits the customer’s requirements, rather than be forced to work with a set of standard size panels.  The only proviso is that the minimum panel height is 21mm.  The system also allows flexibility regarding the panel material.  The standard material is matt finish anodised silver aluminium panels, however, the panels could be stainless steel or indeed any sheet material up to 3mm thick.

 ANODISING COLOUR CONSISTENCY

One of the biggest challenges which all directory manufacturers face is maintaining colour consistency, particularly when the signs are supplied in an anodised finish.  Any issue with colour consistency is extremely noticeable because the signs are viewed at close quarters.  This issue also has a significant bearing on the aesthetic value of the sign over time as individual panels are replaced as changes occur.

We have addressed this challenge by using a premium grade “Alerix” HX55 colour guaranteed anodised aluminium sheet, which we buy in bulk (6 tonnes at a time) and bring in from Europe.

This sheet is guaranteed for colour consistency within the batch and from batch to batch.  The sheet has a chemical composition, which ensures optimum colour consistency.  It was developed specifically for external cladding applications on large commercial office buildings where colour consistency is an absolutely essential requirement.

The sheet has an extremely flat, even surface completely free from shading, discolouration or colour banding (which is common standard 5005 sheet).

Designers and specifiers should be aware that, if alternatives are offered by the sign company using standard 5005 grade, which is predominantly used throughout the sign trade, such aluminium faceplates will not necessarily be colour consistent.  It is highly probable that a single sheet of 5005 will produce a range of different colours resulting in a multi-coloured effect.

Most directory systems offer the panels in the form of extrusions.  One of the difficulties with extrusions is that the panels are not necessarily all produced at the same time, resulting in slight colour differences in the anodised finish.  Another common feature of extrusions is that horizontal die lines are often visible within the panel.  We avoid all these issues by utilising premium quality guaranteed sheet.  We can forward a copy of the manufacturer’s brochure on request.  We carry significant stocks of the material at all times, ensuring the standard can be maintained and the continuity of supply.

 CONSISTENCY OF PANEL SIZE

We have developed custom jigging (over many years), which enables us to maintain extremely tight tolerances well beyond the capabilities of most computer-controlled guillotines.  Accurate panel sizes are absolutely critical to the functionality of the sign.  The panels all fit into the sign frames with a snug fit – there are no gaps between panels to camouflage inconsistencies.  If the panels were slightly out of square, they would not necessarily go back in place once removed.  We work to a tolerance of +0 to -0.1.  All panels abut with a discreet hairline joint with no edges exposed.  The ability to maintain such tight tolerance is vital for the ongoing maintenance and servicing of the signs we supply to the market.  We have had numerous incidents where competitors have sought to copy our designs with the result that the signs have been a nightmare to service due to an inability to produce the same size replacement panels on a consistent basis.

This issue takes on a much bigger dimension for large projects where there are multiple signs, where panels could be interchanged within a group of signs.  Unless tight tolerance is maintained, there is a strong possibility that the whole system could become unworkable.  We guarantee our product against any such defects.

 MAGNETIC COMPONENTRY

The directories utilise magnetic componentry, which makes them easy to operate and very secure.  Many systems rely on plastic end pieces and the like, which break or get lost over time.  There are no such components with the SignLink System.  The magnetic element of the back of the sign lasts indefinitely.  The magnetic element is applied at the back of the panel for the full length of the panel with the result that the magnetic performs so that it holds the panel firmly in place for the full length of the panel.  There is no bowing or misalignment of panels.  Systems which connect panels in place by means of end pieces etc. create a “bridge” effect for all the panels, which can result in panels dipping or bowing.

The magnetic mechanism means that all the panels are front loading which makes them user friendly and enables them to be located in positions where access to the sides is impeded.  The signs are ideally suited to be mounted in recesses where existing dilapidates signs are being replaced.

 PANEL SECURITY

The panels are very secure, as unauthorised persons cannot readily remove them.  They have stood the test of time; we have used the system for more than a decade.  The panels do not have any exposed edges – we supply a suction cap device for easy removal of the panels.  The signs have been widely used in universities where security is a significant requirement.  The magnetic holds the panels firmly in place.

The medium and larger size models also incorporate a split batten, which is recessed into the back of the sign.  This enables them to be installed by one person with a very cost effective outcome.

 WIDE MODEL SELECTION

The SignLink range consists of 8 models, which enable the designer/sign company to submit various options depending on the client’s requirements.  The models range from the slimline through to the very substantial models designed for very large signs.  These models can also incorporate a protective cabinet door.

Five of the models all have the same square outer edge, enabling the designer to develop an overall sign scheme with the same visual appearance from a front elevation perspective, while at the same time using the appropriate model to suit the size, ranging from the small signs through to the large floor to ceiling sizes.

This is why you should choose Signlink!
