Directory Wall Signs – Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Directory Sign?
A directory sign, often referred to as a wall sign, is a type of signage that provides clear, organized information to help people navigate a building or area. These signs typically list names, locations, or functions of businesses, offices, or facilities within a larger complex, such as office buildings, shopping centers, hospitals, or schools. Their main purpose is to guide visitors efficiently, helping them find their way around the facility.
Where to Use Directory Signs?
Directory or wall signs typically feature multiple panels or sections that can be easily updated, making them highly versatile. They are commonly mounted on walls, placed near entrances, or used as freestanding signs. Due to their positioning, they are sometimes confused with door signs, though these are completely different.
Can I custom build my directory or wall signage?
SIGNLINK believes in offering custom-built signage design solutions tailored to your specific needs. Whether you require stainless steel panels or other materials up to 3mm thick, we ensure precise customization. The minimum panel height is 21mm, allowing maximum flexibility in designing unique directory signs. With our advanced jigging system, we guarantee tight tolerances for a snug, seamless fit—essential for a high-quality, professional appearance.
Mechanical Fixing for secure Installation
All models, except the Avant Garde (designed for smaller signs), feature a robust split batten or mounting rail system for secure installation. Mechanical corner joints on most models, except Benchmark and Avant Garde, guarantee longevity by preventing corner gaps over time. Each directory sign is capable of housing digital prints, perfect for outdoor signage or office directories.
Two models in the range come with protective doors, converting them into cabinet-style directory systems—ideal for locations needing extra security.
What’s the difference between Directory signs and Wall Panels?
The only difference between the two products is that directory signs feature multiple interchangeable panels, while wall panels have a single faceplate—either fixed or interchangeable.
